CarExpert Choice: The best cars in Australia for 2025

The CarExpert Choice Awards were created to help Australians cut through the noise and find the cars in 2025 that genuinely stand out in the real world.

Car buyers have never had more choice. More brands, more powertrains, more price points, and more opinions online about what you should buy. That’s exactly why we’ve launched the inaugural 2025 CarExpert Choice Awards.

The CarExpert Choice Awards were created to help Australians cut through the noise and find the cars that genuinely stand out in the real world. Not just on a spec sheet, and not just during a short launch drive, but across the kinds of roads, commutes, school runs, road trips and ownership considerations that matter to everyday buyers.

Every winning vehicle was driven, tested and debated extensively by the CarExpert editorial team over the previous 12 months. These aren’t awards handed out from a spreadsheet. They come from thousands of hours behind the wheel and years of experience testing new cars in Australian conditions.

Rather than focusing on a single overall ‘Car of the Year’, the awards recognise excellence across the categories Australians are actually shopping in. From affordable small cars and family SUVs through to EVs, utes and performance vehicles, the goal was simple: help buyers understand which cars are leading their segment right now.

CarExpert Founder, Alborz Fallah says,“Our audience asks us every day what car they should buy, and the answer is rarely the same for everyone.

“There’s more choice in the Australian market than ever before, which is great for consumers, but it can also make the process overwhelming. We wanted these awards to be genuinely useful for people researching their next car.”

The judging process combined hands-on testing, editorial discussion and consideration of the things Australians consistently tell us they care about most: safety, value, practicality, technology, efficiency, ownership costs and how a car actually feels to live with day-to-day.

Importantly, the awards were decided independently by CarExpert’s editorial team, without commercial involvement or influence.

The full list of winners across all categories is published across CarExpert.com.au, alongside detailed reviews, comparisons and video content to help buyers better understand why each vehicle earned its place.
