CarExpert launches Sales Atlas — putting insights at your fingertips

CarExpert's Sales Atlas provides a new way to explore Australia’s new car market online.

June 22, 2026

Today we launched Sales Atlas – an online tool offering a searchable view of Australia’s new-car market that makes decades of sales data easier to access and understand.

Australia is one of the most competitive new-car markets in the world, and it has been  getting harder to quickly see what is really happening. With the Sales Atlas, users can search by brand, model and year, compare makes and models, and review historical sales trends dating all the way back to 1991 – which is a practical way to search the market, compare performance and understand where demand is moving.

While a monthly sales result is important, it doesn’t always tell the full story. The New Car Sales Atlas has been designed to go beyond the monthly leaderboard. Users will have access to insightful monthly snapshots and can also look at which brands and models are rising in popularity, how segments are shifting, how fuel types are changing, and where buyer demand is forming (by category and price band).

That price-band context is expected to be particularly useful for dealers and OEMs. Rather than only seeing which model topped the sales chart, users can look more closely at where customers are clustering, which models are winning in those bands, and where there may be pressure or opportunity in the market.

People across the industry ask the following types of questions all the time:

  • How has a model performed over time?
  • Which brands are gaining momentum?
  • What is happening in a particular segment?
  • Where is the buyer moving?

Until now, getting those answers usually meant digging through spreadsheets. We wanted to make it easier to search, compare and understand, with the Sales Atlas.

The online tool is designed for practical use across the new-car industry, benefitting OEMs, dealers, fleet and leasing companies, industry bodies, regulators, media, finance and insurance providers, aftermarket businesses, EV infrastructure stakeholders and researchers.
