Mat McNay has been appointed Country Manager of CarExpert NZ to head up local operations as we continue to scale across the ditch.

Marking a return to the business for one of our early leaders, Mat previously served as Commercial Director – Media in Australia, where he played a key role in shaping our commercial model and building strong relationships with automotive brands and agencies across Australia and New Zealand. 

Mat joins us during a pivotal stage of growth for New Zealand, and we welcome the opportunity to bring him back into the business, following an international work opportunity he took in Dubai. Since the launch of CarExpert NZ earlier this year, our Kiwi audience has grown more than tenfold in under three months, reflecting the demand for quality, independent new car content.   

In his new Auckland-based role, Mat will lead local operations, partnerships and go-to-market activity, while continuing to build out a high-performing team across editorial, video and commercial. As someone who already knows the business inside out, Mat brings both continuity and capability to CarExpert NZ. 

Mat has expressed that the opportunity feels right for him personally and professionally, and that he’s looking forward to making a real difference.

Having been part of the journey in Australia, I’m excited to build on that momentum locally and grow something genuinely useful for Kiwi car buyers,” said Mat.
